About This Initiative

Each year the NAELA MD-DC Chapter and the MSBA Elder Law & Disability Rights Section host a joint legislative lunch with Maryland lawmakers focused on elder law, long-term care planning, and the real-world impact of the programs they oversee.

All elder law attorneys are invited to participate in the 2026 Legislative Lunch, which will take place on February 24, 2026. This lunch is the centerpiece of our legislative outreach and provides an opportunity for informal conversation and education in a collegial, nonpartisan setting.

In addition, we are inviting attorneys who attend the lunch to let us know if they are also willing to participate in small-group legislator visits the day of the lunch. Participation in these visits is optional and not required to attend the lunch.

These meetings are educational in nature, not advocacy-driven, and are not tied to any specific bill or position. The goal is to build relationships, improve lawmakers’ understanding of elder law practice, and ensure they heard directly from attorneys who work with older adults and their loved ones every day.

How to Participate

Participation is flexible. At a minimum, we ask participants to be willing to meet with their own legislators or legislative staff as constituents.
